Situated in one of the most charming bays of the upper Adriatic area, just a few kilometres from the city of Trieste, Camping Village Mare Pineta boasts a unique naturalistic context.
The campsite is just 500 m from the beach to which it is connected by a handy, free and fun shuttle service. Next to the campsite is the panoramic Rilke walk. The province of Trieste has got rich history and culture. It found its place in the spectacular landscape of Carso, between white rocks and pinewoods. Trieste is full of magnificent buildings that remind us of the free port in the period of Austro-Hungarian Empire and of the hushed atmosphere of its “Viennese” cafés. There are numerous museums, the old port, San Giusto Castle, and Miramare Castle that are certainly worth visiting. Rilke pathway in Sistiana offers the possibility of trips by walking or riding a mountain bike. While doing so you can enjoy the breathtaking view through the woods, rocks of Carso and Sistiana Bay. Grotta Gigante, the biggest cave in the world; the nearby caves of Postumia in Slovenia; the mouth of Timavo, a mysterious subterranean river; and Val Rosandra, a nature reserve and a perfect place to go free climbing, are only some of the places where you can enjoy the nature and culinary art in the local inns called osmizze. Trieste is a mixture of different cultures, of the past and the present. Muggia, a nearby town on the border with Slovenia is an example of both Istrian and Venetian culture. Other interesting places are Aurisina with the Roman caves, the Castle of Duino, the Rock of Monrupino, and Mariano Temple in Monte Grisa. We recommend trips to the nearby provinces of Gorizia and Udine in order to see Aquileia, the Roman capital; the national monuments of Redipuglia and the fortress of Palmanova; the castle of Gorizia and Lombard medieval Cividale of Friuli.
